Judy Boyd, Administrative Assistant

Judy joined Southpark Baptist Church in 1986. In the early 1990s she was asked to volunteer her services to fill in as secretary until a person could be hired to fill the vacancy. Janell Brent was hired and I would occasionally fill in for her when she went on vacation. In 1993 Judy was hired to work along side Janell. When Janell retired, Judy was hired to fill the position, so you could say she has been around for some time. Her duties at the church include answering the telephone, taking messages, managing the church membership, designging and printing off the Sunday bulletin as well as folding and stuffing inserts into the bulletin. She is often called upon to search for lost or misplaced items within the church, look for leaks, or even chat with someone who is distressed or frustrated. Judy has many opportunities throughout the day to minister to others and considers her job a ministry. Judy feels she is here to serve God, the staff and the church members. She also is the church clerk and prepares the annual church profile. She also takes care of prayer requests and emails for the church as well as the eNewsletter.

Judy grew up in Omaha, Nebraska and graduated from Omaha Central High School and then attended Commercial Extension Business College in Omaha. She is married to Herb and has 3 grown children and 5 grandchildren.  Judy’s 97-year old mother lives with us and does her best to keep Herb and Judy in line.

Judy is on the Missions Committee and says that missions is an important part of our ministry as a church. She serves as Women’s Missionary Union director, and is involved with Women on Mission.

Judy’s ministry verse is Joshua 24:15, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
